Remake, Not Reboot
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is Toei Animation's "ENHANCED" re-edit of the anime that started it all in 2015 — rebuilt frame by frame for the franchise's 40th anniversary.
Announced January 25, 2026 · Premieres October 11, 2026 on Fuji TV · 19 episodes.
Made for Dragon Ball's 40th anniversary and Toei Animation's 70th anniversary — a chance to fix the 2015 broadcast's rough edges.
What "Enhanced Edition" Actually Means
This is not an upscale. Toei describes a ground-up reconstruction:
| Element | What Was Done |
|---|---|
| Footage | Complete re-render of existing cuts, plus a batch of brand-new, redrawn animation |
| Animation fixes | General corrections to the original's notoriously inconsistent early-episode quality |
| Dialogue | Entirely re-recorded voice performances — Masako Nozawa and Koichi Yamadera return |
| Audio | New score additions and sound effects by returning composer Norihito Sumitomo |
| Story | Reconstructed — the same beats, re-edited into a tighter narrative closer to the manga's pacing |
Producer Akio Iyoku has said the project began several years before its announcement. The story credit belongs to the late Akira Toriyama, based on material he contributed while alive.
Three Arcs, Compressed
The 19-episode run rebuilds roughly the first third of the 2015 anime:
| # | Saga | What Happens |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | God of Destruction Beerus (Battle of Gods) | Beerus awakens, seeks the Super Saiyan God, and nearly erases Earth until Goku's new form talks him down |
| 2 | Resurrection 'F' | Frieza returns from death with his Golden form for revenge on the Saiyans |
| 3 | Universe 6 / Champa Tournament | Beerus's twin brother Champa hosts a tournament introducing Hit, Frost and the lead-in to the Tournament of Power |
Trailers confirm at least one narrative liberty: Goku uses Super Saiyan God during the Frieza battle — something that never happened in the original film or anime.
